“Transfigured Air Cubes” in Pampulha Iate Clube Art Gallery 2015

Strong colors, clear lines and bold geometric shapes define the characteristics of the art works of artist Bruno Mitre. He presents the exhibition "Air cubes Transfigured" which can be visited until May 7, in the PIC City Gallery (Claudio Manoel, 1185 , Employees), in Belo Horizonte (MG), with free admission.

In 14 paintings presented in the exhibition, the artist focuses on acrylic paint and charcoal on canvas, creating a set of moods and textures that create the feeling of a lively conversation between the various aspects of each image. Finely drawn lines contrast with impressive broad strokes and color combinations give each piece a vibrant energy surface.

This sense of dynamism is enhanced by the color options and combinations. Intense red, blue and yellow greens are placed with thick bands of black paint creating an intense sense of contrast and bringing a modern urban energy to the compositions of paintings and drawings. "Big cities and their lives are the center of my work," he says.

The artist

Trained as an architect, Bruno Mitre focuses on the deconstruction and turns into paintings which he defines as significant elements of the metropolis. In addition to inspiring the architects Frank Gehry and Daniel Libeskind, the artist is also a follower of the French writer Jacques Derrida with his philosophy of deconstruction. According to Mitre, the main purpose of his art is to bring ideas articulated between visual arts, architecture and literature - to life. In his images, lines and written, the basic shapes are released from the constraints of the physical world, taking life.

Bruno Mitre is represented by Agora Gallery in New York in 2015 and has won two important awards for his work, winning Sandro Botticelli Award at the Museum Casa di Dante Allighieri in Florence, Rome and the Imperial Prize in Bramante Room, Piazza del Popolo in Rome, both in Italy. In September 2015, will participate in the group exhibition Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition in Agora Gallery, New York.
