Angela Di Bello - Diretora da Agora Gallery - Nova York

Boldly expressive and confidently assertive, the art of Brazilian artist Bruno Mitre joins together a fragmented geometry of line and form with an atmospheric use of color in a linear abstraction of the urban landscape. Inspired by the Deconstructionist movement and crossing divides of language and culture, Mitre’s art creates a visual exchange between art, architecture and literature as he paints a metropolis of the mind in a powerful vision of contemporary society. Mitre builds his mixed media works in a variety of mediums, fluidly combining acrylic and watercolor paints, charcoal, pen, and oil pastel with a mark that might be anything from softly loose and flowing or tightly drawn and angular.

Bruno Mitre’s art has received widespread attention in his native Brazil through numerous solo and group exhibits, including works held in the collection of the Palácio das Mangabeiras and the Palácio da Liberdade, where he also serves as curator. In addition to his career in fine art, Mitre has earned degrees in both Architecture and Urbanism, and specializes in the conservation and restoration of historical sites and monuments.
